Throwing some pizza shapes

So, August was a very lively month here in New Zealand… The last days of Winter finally gave way to the first days of Spring… But before all that, an exciting, new national event took place.

It was NZ Children’s Book Week (15th-21st August). This was the first ever one and it was great to see so many writers, illustrators, publishers, libraries, schools, and booksellers taking part. There were loads of fun events and activities for children across the land. This brilliant initiative was organised by Read NZ to celebrate local stories and help get more children reading!

As part of the event, Messy Press partnered with The Dorothy Butler Children’s Bookshop in Auckland and threw a Pizza Shape Party celebrating the release of The Pizza Shape Book!

Wait, pizza, bookshop, young children…?!

Luckily, it was just a super fun-filled morning. There was some pizza shape book reading, some pizza shape activities, and lots of pizza shape munching. The ham-tangles were a firm favourite.

Thanks to Helen and Mary for being amazing hosts and to everyone that came along to show their support and eat triangle slices with us. We hope you enjoy The Pizza Shape Book too!

Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu next year…
